Prof PK Ramdial graduated in 1986 from the University of Natal (MBChB). She undertook her Internship at King Edward VIII Hospital, Durban, Kwazulu Natal in 1987. She subsequently worked for 6 months as a Medical Officer in Department of Paediatrics at King Edward VIII Hospital. She joined the Department of Anatomical Pathology as a Registrar in July 1998 and obtained her FFPath(Anat)SA: College of Pathology of South Africa Qualification in May 1993. She was appointed as a Specialist / Lecturer in July 1993 and was promoted to Senior Specialist / Lecturer in July 1996.

In 1997 she obtained an Advanced University Diploma in Adult Education: University of Natal and in 1999 obtained her MMed(Anat Path) cum laude for her thesis entitled: ”A histopathological and immunohistochemical evaluation of aggressive basal cell carcinomas”.

In May 2003 Professor Ramdial was appointed as Head of Discipline of Anatomical Pathology: Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine / National Health Laboratory Services.
